Today is Hailey’s 30th birthday. It’s hard to believe that our first-born daughter is 30! But this one has a double meaning. Her first without her mom, and her first as a new mother to our first grandchild, Aldo Owen Hall Briggs.
The news of Hailey’s pregnancy culminating in a successful natural home birth provided a happy counterbalance to this first year without you. Something to take our minds off your absence. Although I’m sure there were times during the pregnancy and delivery that Hailey would have loved to have been able to have her mom around. And now that Aldo is here, her world has shrunk, at least temporarily, to an insulated bubble of a new family.
Life is all about moving forward through phases and milestones. As we approach the one-year mark of life without you, today we celebrate the milestone of Hailey’s 30th birthday and her first month of motherhood. Life truly is a circle!
