I wish you were here now to see how well Tyler is doing in his dream to be a Major League Baseball player. Over the years you always kept in touch with Debbie and Kelly to follow his progress including the little league World Series, high school years, collegiate career at FSU, and then being drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks after Tommy John surgery.
Even while you were sick, we tried to follow his progress through the minor league system and watch him pitch whenever we could. And now, since you’ve been gone, he was traded to the Detroit Tigers and has worked himself into the active roster in the bullpen since April.
Recently, he even had his first major league start and has been recognized in a recent article as being a “waiver wire gem”. You would be so happy for Tyler (and mom and dad) right now! If you were here, I know that we would be making plans to travel somewhere to watch him play.
You worked so hard to stay connected to your dear friends Debbie and Lea and to keep our families connected over the years. You were usually the one to suggest and plan weekend get-togethers, and you went out of your way to be there for special occasions. It was so touching that all of them showed up for your Celebration of Life to honor your memory and offer love and support to the family.
I am so thankful for these dear friends, who I count as family because of you; and for the opportunity to share in their lives and the lives of their kids (even if only vicariously, like watching Tyler living his dream to pitch as Major League Baseball player). I promise to try to do my part to keep these connections alive and look forward to sharing other milestones to come in the circle of our lives. In the meantime, “Go Tyler!”
