Our little “Sydney Bean” is engaged! What a wonderful way to start off the new year! Oh, how I wish you could be here to share this time with us!
Huntley planned and executed a perfectly fitting romantic setting for the event, with the help of some sneaky proposal elves. He picked a spot on the beach at Fernandina to have a candlelit path leading up to a blanket strewn with rose petals with a backdrop of a tiki torches and a string of pictures of the two of them (in true engineering form-in chronological order), along with some wine (or maybe it was grape juice), and a red velvet cake that he asked me to make because he knew how much Sydney loved it! He had written a love letter for Sydney which he planned for her to read culminating with him getting on his knee to ask her to marry him and give her the ring. Huntley definitely scored points for creating a romantic setting for this momentous occasion! You definitely would have approved!
I have only recently figured out that they have been talking about getting married for a while now; but I have to say it did catch me off guard a little for it to be happening so soon (and so young). But on the other hand, like we said about us, “when you know, you know, and why wait”! Still, we are talking about daddy’s baby girl!
So today, on the first day of 2024, we celebrate Huntley and Sydney on their engagement; and we eagerly look forward to the excitement and joy of the wedding plans to come. I pray that Sydney will feel the loving hand of your presence in spirit throughout it all!
